Associate Professor Jill Sewell

    Associate Professor Jill Sewell AM is a consultant paediatrician at the Centre for Community Child Health (the Centre) at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, and Chair of the Victorian Clinical Council. 

    Jill has recently completed a 5 year term as Clinical Director of the Children's Bioethics Centre.

    Jill has had overview responsibility for the developmental and behavioural specialty clinics at the Centre, including practicing consultant paediatricians and advanced trainees in paediatrics, which undertake over 5000 occasions of service per year for children aged from infancy to adolescence with a range of developmental and behavioural problems which impact on their health, development and education. She was also responsible for the Victorian Training Program in Community Child Health for many years.

    Jill is the inaugural Chair of the Victorian Clinical Council.  She has been President of the Australian Medical Council, an inaugural member of the Victorian Health Innovation and Reform Council, has completed a nine year term on the board of Alfred Health, and has completed 5 years as an inaugural Co-clinical Lead of the Victorian Paediatric Clinical Network. She has been President of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

    As well as her clinical specialty, Jill  has long standing interests in medical ethics, paediatric and other medical education, quality improvement, health policy and service delivery, medical regulation and medical workforce. 

    Awards

    Jill was made a member of the Order of Australia in January 2005 for services to child health.
