Looking for a GP?

Human Services Directory

All patients at the RCH should have a regular family doctor.  GPs are listed on the Human Services Directory.  You can search by name, special interest or postcode.  This database is kept up-to-date by DCA (Database Consultants) on behalf of the Department of Health.

  • 'How to' search the HSD
  • Print a list for parents - they will need to call or visit a selection of local GP Practices and ask if they provide GP services to children and cater to other needs (such as language or special needs).

Need a paediatrician?

Many families may choose to see a paediatrician privately.  Public and private paediatricians are listed on the Human Services Directory.  You can search by name, special interest or postcode.  This database is kept up-to-date by DCA (Database Consultants) on behalf of the Department of Health.

Information for RCH staff about GP details

GP details need to be kept up-to-date on IBA (the RCH patient management system) for discharge summaries and other communication. There are two types of 'wrong GP' details:

1) Wrong details for a GP

Do not update these details on IBA yourself. The Human Services Directory (HSD) is a statewide database managed for the Department of Health.  They will call the GP, check all the details and then update the Human Services Directory. Every two weeks, RCH ICT downloads this up-to-date database to IBA. Every time this update happens, any changes you have made to IBA will be lost.

2) Wrong GP nominated to a patient

  • If a patient has the wrong nominated GP please change this via IBA.  If you don't have IBA access to do this, please contact Health Information Services:
