RCH IMHP offers a range of professional development and training activities for all staff within the service. It is the role of the Professional Development Committee to plan, implement, support and evaluate learning opportunities to assist clinicians, support staff and other health and welfare professionals to increase their competencies in providing professional care.

Infant Mental Health and Family Violence Training
The Infant Mental Health and Family Violence 2-day Experiential Training (for mothers and infants affected by family violence) looks at the Peek a Boo Club model, the impact of Family Violence on Infant Mental Health and Infant led Work. It provides participants with an introduction to groupwork with infants and mothers affected by family violence.
Training is held at Level 1, 22 Withers Street, Sunshine, 3020. The cost is $330, fully catered.

PARKAS 2-day Experiential Training
The PARKAS (Parents Accepting Responsibility Kids Are Safe) 2-day Experiential Training explores the dynamics of violence, the neurological impact of violence and theoretical perspectives useful in understanding this area of work (for children and parents affected by family violence).
Training is held at Level 1, 22 Withers Street, Sunshine, 3020. The cost is $330, fully catered.

FIST Training
Feeling is Thinking (FisT) 1-day training provides teachers and welfare professionals with strategies and/or groupwork interventions for children who have difficulties in managing strong emotions and challenging situations.
Training is held at Level 1, 22 Withers Street, Sunshine, 3020. The cost is $165, fully catered.

Mind the Baby Forum, 27th July 2009
Mind the Baby: Working with Vulnerable Infants and their Families
This forum was held at the Ella Latham Lecture Theatre, Royal Children's Hospital, and attended by over 200 people. The aim was to share different ways of working with vulnerable infants and their families as well as allow meaningful discussion amongst health and community services providers currently working with this important client group. The keynote speaker was Brigid Jordan, Associate Professor Paediatric Social Work (Infant and Family), RCH.
