Clinical Trials

The pharmacy department is involved in a number of clinical drug trials. Although generally initiated by extra-departmental agencies such as medical units or pharmaceutical companies, the department may be involved from the trial's inception. The extent of the pharmacy department's involvement varies according to the individual trial's protocol and design.

The committee is responsible for assessing the scientific rigour and merit of studies involving drugs, and any relevant regulatory aspects prior to consideration by the Ethics in Human Research Committee.

Details of application procedures for Drug Trial Subcommittee and Ethics in Human Research Committee are available from RCH Ethics and Training Office (x 6924).
