· Developmental defects of tooth enamel, small animal laboratory research and clinical research at the RCH
· Traumatic injuries of the head and neck in children - clinical research at the RCH outpatients and inpatients admissions

Career highlights/memorable moments
· 1954 Member of Melbourne University Regiment Royal Household Guard, mounted at Government House, Melbourne, during Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip’s first visit to Melbourne and Australia
· 1960 Initial appointment to the RCH staff from outset and later senior medical staff. (Initially the RCH was the only hospital in Australia to have dental staff included as medical staff)
· 1967 Organiser of the first clinical meeting at the RCH, of dentists working with children in Australia and in New Zealand
· 1967 Development of dental clinic into a full department with all specialist areas of dentistry represented by top young clinicians and with active teaching of undergraduate, then postgraduate, dental students and medical student lectures. There was an active clinical and laboratory research programme.
· 1983 Chairman of 9th Congress of the International Association of Dentistry for Children held in Melbourne and election as President –Elect of International Association of Dentistry for Children.
· 1985 Election as President of (now named) International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (1985-87)
· Invited Lecturer at over 60 International meetings
· Chairman of major Sessions at 30 International meetings
· 1994 Publication of sole-authored textbook, 'Paediatric Orofacial Medicine and Pathology' by Chapman and Hall, London. This textbook is used world-wide by specialists in all disciplines of dentistry and by postgraduate students.
