Background
Christine Unsworth is the former Executive Director of The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Good Friday Appeal – having overseen the community contribution of $160 million to the hospital over a period of 16 years.
A 26 year long association with the RCH saw Christine hold positions of Executive Director of the hospital’s Foundation, Public Relations Manager and Co-ordinator of Volunteers and Auxiliaries.
Awards and recognition
In recognition of her work Christine was awarded the ANZ Bank Travelling Scholarship enabling her to visit and learn from volunteer and fundraising organisations in America and Canada.
In 2007 Christine was awarded The Royal Children’s Hospital Chairman’s Medal.
Christine was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2014
Community
Her focus has always been community and she has held many positions both voluntary and professional in that space.
Before commencing her tenure at the RCH, Christine managed an Early Childhood Development Program and The Gisborne and District Community Health Centre.
Christine is a Director of The Mazda Foundation, a position held since 1995
She has served as a Trustee of The William Buckland Foundation and the W.C.F.Thomas Charitable Trust.
She was an inaugural member of the Jeff Crouch Foundation and the first female member on both the Loddon Regional TAFE Board and the Board of Crime Stoppers Victoria
Christine has been an Australia Day Ambassador since 2009
In 2011 she was awarded the ICSP James Strong Leadership Award for Outstanding Community Service.
Current interests
A resident of the Macedon Ranges Christine loves the outdoors, travels extensively, is an avid reader and considers herself one of the luckiest people in the world. She is proud of her large family and treasures the time spent with them.
