Queensland Platforms Project

  • The Queensland Platforms Project aimed to build a common and collaborative culture between the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sector and community members to create an understanding of local needs and priorities, and a shared commitment between services and community members to improve outcomes for local children and families.

Three pilot locations participated in the Queensland Platforms Project from July 2014 – December 2015 :

    • Gympie
    • Gold Coast
    • Laidley and Hatton Vale.

These locations were identified through analysis of the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC), participation rates in kindergarten services and existing early childhood service provision in the community.

The project guided and supported representatives from each pilot location through a collaborative process based on the Platforms Service Redevelopment Framework.

The project was delivered through four key stages:

    • Stage one: Site engagement and communication
    • Stage two: Raising Awareness community workshops
    • Stage three: Platforms training delivery
    • Stage four: Platforms implementation, coaching and support.

The Queensland Platforms Project was delivered by the Centre for Community Child Health at the at The Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne and the Murdoch Children's Research Institute in partnership with the Department of Education and Training.
