We encourage you to be as involved in your baby’s care as possible.
This care guide contains suggestions of things that you can do with your baby at different stages during their Butterfly journey.
The suggestions will vary depending on what stage your baby is at in terms of the amount of clinical support they need and their own developmental stage. Try to remember that some days your baby may be able to cope with more interaction than other days and the bedside nurse or CCC can help you figure out what they are able to cope with until you know them and their behaviour well enough.
We aim to teach you to provide all of their normal baby care, such as changing nappies and giving feeds or oral medications. However, there will always be some things that must be done by the staff, such as giving intravenous medications or changing settings on the medical equipment.
