Homecare Program

  • The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Homecare Program (HCP) is a fee for service training program, enabling children and adolescents with ongoing interventional medical care needs to be safely cared for in their chosen environment.

The HCP can be delivered to support workers within a chosen environment, deemed necessary for the health, safety and inclusion of the child.  Environments include but are not limited to:

    • In-home/Family/Residential home
    • Early Learning centre / Day Care Centre
    • 3yo and 4yo Kindergarten
    • Before and after School Program

The Complex Care Hub (CCH) nursing team, in consultation with the child parents and treating medical practitioner, provide child specific training for support workers to provide a defined level of care in the environments suggested above.

Support workers/staff are employed by an external community agency and trained for each patient’s requirements by the CCH team.
