Doctor Burt graduated from the Royal London Hospital in 1984.  He received a Licenciate in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1985.  He then worked as a general dentist in London between 1985 and 1989 before receiving a Master's degree in Prosthetic Dentistry from the Eastman Institute of Dental Surgery (London) in 1989.  He received an additional Master's degree in Prosthodontics from the University of Minnesota in 1993.  Dr. Burt became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 1997 and the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics in 1996.  He held the position of Lecturer in Prosthodontics and convenor in Removable Prosthodontics at the University of Melbourne between 1996 and 1999 and Clinical Demonstrator in Prosthodontics from 1994.  Dr. Burt has been in private practice limited to Prosthodontics since 1994.
