Radiology

• Remove pump for any x-rays, CT/MRI/PET scans

Travel

• Take double the pump supplies you think you will need
• Know your pump total daily dose (PTDD)
• Take pen insulin (both Novorapid and Glargine) as an alternative method of giving insulin in the case of pump or line failure.
• Take travel letter (email diabetesadmin@rch.org.au to request this letter no less than 3 weeks prior to departure)
  If travelling overseas:
• Take long acting insulin and know your injectable insulin doses incase your pump fails
• Consider hiring a loan pump (discuss this with your pump company)

Surgery

• Speak with your surgeon and anaesthetist prior to surgery for a plan
  
• If the pump is to remain on for the duration of the surgery:
  
• Change the pump infusion set the day before
• Consider temporary target/exercise activity/ease off mode in the lead up to and duration of procedure.

School Camp

If attending a school camp, you require a management plan separate from your normal school management plan

Request a camp plan via the RCH website no less than 4 weeks prior to scheduled camp date
