Assessment and when to refer

History and physical examination for all ages

Differential diagnosis of midline neck swellings includes:

• Thyroglossal cyst.
• Dermoid cyst.
• Submental lymph node.
• Ectopic thyroid.
  • Refer to General Surgery Department non-urgently for all non-inflammed masses.
  • Please provide history and any investigations undertaken.
