Sport is an extremely important pastime for many children. The benefits children derive from participating in sporting activities far outweigh the risks. Benefits include physical exercise, fun, new friends and a sense of belonging through socialisation in group activities. However, injuries can sometimes occur so it is important to be aware of the potential hazards associated with your chosen sporting activity. It is estimated that up to 50 per cent of all sporting injuries are preventable.
SMARTPLAY is a division of Sports Medicine Australia that specialises in providing important injury prevention information for a range of different sports. SMARTPLAY’s information includes risks to be aware of in your chosen sport, as well as what to do in the unfortunate event of an injury.
