Education
Once a year, the Ophthalmology Department at the Royal Children's Hospital holds the Paediatric Ophthalmology Seminar. This seminar is designed for ophthalmology registrars in their 3rd year of training with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. It is a three-day intensive short course held over three consecutive Saturdays and aims to provide participants with a combination of case discussions, didactic teaching, problem solving, informal discussion as well as "hands-on experience" to enable them to approach paediatric ophthalmological problems confidently.
2025: Virtual seminar dates: Saturday 11th October and Saturday 18th October 2025.
2025: Live patient examinations (full day) at RCH in the outpatient eye clinic: Saturday 25th October 2025.
Registration for the live patient day is strictly limited to 25 participants and will close when capacity is reached. (To avoid disappointment, we recommend registering as soon as registration opens 2nd June 2025.)
Registration for virtual event closes Wednesday 10th September 2025. (Unlimited registration numbers for the virtual event.)
The registration form can be found here. Registration opens EST 9am Monday 2nd June 2025. (Forms submitted prior to this date and time will not be accepted.) When registration opens, please email the completed form to paediatric.seminar@rch.org.au.
