The nursing clinical guidelines presented on this site were developed by clinicians
primarily for use by clinicians working in The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH), Melbourne.
They detail
ongoing management of many common conditions within the RCH and are intended as a guide only, and not as a
replacement for clinical expertise.
The authors
have made considerable efforts to ensure the information contained in these
guidelines is accurate, evidence based and up to
date at the time of publication. In the
absence of current evidence where possible a consensus between relevant RCH
stakeholders has been obtained. However, the guidelines do not
necessarily represent the views of all the clinicians in the RCH.
The
recommendations contained in these guidelines do not indicate an exclusive
course of action, or serve as a standard of treatment for ongoing management of
patients. Variation from these guidelines, taking individual circumstances into
account, may be appropriate.
Users
of these guidelines are strongly recommended to confirm that the information
contained within them is correct by way of independent sources and appropriate in the circumstances
for the patient in question. The RCH accepts no liability, however arising, for any inaccuracies,
information perceived as misleading, and makes no representations as to the success of any
treatment regimen detailed in the guidelines.
