Early Learning

Philosophy of RCH Early Learning

  • Our philosophy is made up of the values and beliefs we bring to our work with children, that influence how we support and educate them and their families.

The Royal Children's Hospital Early Learning has a strong commitment to providing progressive and high quality early education, where the needs of both the children and the families are met. As dedicated Early Childhood Professionals, we have embraced the vision ‘for all children to experience play-based learning that is engaging and builds success for life’ (EYLF, p:5).

Our philosophy also draws on theories and relevant Early Childhood documentation to consolidate and support our beliefs. Our philosophy is influenced by the six guiding practices from the National Quality Standards (ACECQA, 2017), including:

    • The rights of the child are paramount
    • Children are successful, competent and capable learners
    • Equity, inclusion and diversity
    • Valuing Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures
    • The role of parents is respected and supported
    • High expectations for children, educators and service providers
