CPO/ESBL/IBL/VRE screening – Stool specimen (preferred for CPO testing) PLUS Axilla/Groin Swab OR Axilla/Groin Rectal Swab

  • 1 swab for 3 sites, starting at axilla, groin then rectal.

MRSA screening – Nose/Axilla/Groin Swab.

  • 1 swab for 3 sites starting at the nose, axilla then groin.

Candida auris screening – Bilateral Axilla AND Groin Swab OR Nose/Axilla/Groin Swab.

  • 1 swab for 3 sites, starting at each axilla then groin
  • 1 swab for 3 sites, starting at the nose, axilla then groin.

LAB NOTES:

Allocate ONE laboratory number for up 2 screening procedures

  • e.g. ESBL and/or VRE screening on faeces “SCREEN”, CPO screening on “SCREEN2”.
  • e.g ESBL and/or VRE screening on (combined) Axilla/Groin or Axilla/Groin/Rectal swab on “SCREEN”, CPO screening on “SCREEN2”.
  • e.g. MRSA screening on (combined) Nose/Axilla/Groin on “SCREEN”, Candida auris screening on (combined) Axilla/Groin or              Nose/Axilla/Groin on ‘SCREEN2”.
