Fibroblasts- 3mm punch biopsy of skin must extend into dermal layer. Place in tissue culture medium.

Obtain tissue culture medium from Laboratory Services- Anatomical Pathology (business hours) metabolic autopsy kit at Specimen Reception (after hours)

Lab Notes:

Store specimen in refrigerator (not frozen). Add procedure code SAVTC for Tissue Culture and sendaway to VCGS/MCRI.  Add note on request form for cells to be returned to Specimen Reception when available.

Tissue Culture Laboratory Staff (MCRI) will co-ordinate with specimen reception when cell line is ready to send to referral laboratory.
