ESR must be performed within 6hrs of collection. If stored at 2-8°C, the specimen is stable for testing for up to 24 hrs only.

Add-on testing - only if specimen is <24hrs post collection

• Forward to RCH Haematology with next available Laboratory Services courier
• After hours urgent ESRs - Send with external courier
• After-hours non-urgent ESR - store at 2-8oC and send with the next available Laboratory Services courier for testing with 24 hours
