SPECIAL COLLECTION AND PROCESSING PROCEDURE required

Collect instructions & special transport kit  from RCH Specimen Reception (phone: 9345 5904) PRIOR to specimen collection for potential/suspected cases of Ebola virus

-Follow instructions carefully

-The special kit must be hand delivered to RCH Specimen Reception. DO NOT USE the pneumatic tube for specimen transport. 

LAB NOTES:

ISSUE of Collection/ transport 'KIT':Issue one of the specimen collection 'kits' to Emergency Department/Rosella as requested (located on "out of hours Send Away' bench  at Specimen Reception in the large blue labelled container)

RETURN OF EBOLA virus specimen collection/ transport kit to Specimen Reception:

-DO NOT OPEN THE BAG

Follow Instructions in LS-W-039. A printed copy is located at Specimen reception

NOTE:THE BAG MUST ONLY BE OPENED UNDER PC2 CONDITIONS in the Faecal Prep room in the Micro Serology Laboratory.

 - NOTE: If more than the 3 prepared kits are required over this weekend, contact Carmen Muzzolini (mob: 0400193307)
