MEDICAL STAFF:
Specimen should be cut down to approximately 1mm in diameter, fixed in glutaraldehyde and sent to the laboratory.
During normal hours (0600-1800, Mon-Fri), glutaraldehyde is available from Anatomical Pathology. During all other times, glutaraldehyde is available from Specimen Reception (4th floor Laboratory Services)
The On-call RCH Anatomical Pathologist can be contacted via switch if required.
SPECIMEN RECEPTION:
If After Hours, specimens for Electron Microscopy should be stored at 4°C until the next working day
Samples for Electron Microscopy SHOULD NOT BE FROZEN as this limits the ability to perform accurate morphological analysis.
NOTE: Gluteraldehyde is available from the Anatomical Pathology laboratory during business hours or available afterhours from specimen reception - stored in the “Metabolic & Mitochondrial kit” in the cold room.
