Blood  - Lithium heparin preferred ( or edta tube or plain  tube (no gel- as the gel absorbs the drug). Send to Pathology Specimen Reception ASAP. See comments below.

Record last drug dosage and time of last dose on the request form.

LAB NOTES:

Centrifuge and separate plasma aliquot ASAP (must be separated within 12 hours of collection).

Send to testing laboratory on dry ice. Do not pack dry ice in a sealed container.  Use appropriate PPE.
