Must arrive in the laboratory within 30 minutes of collection.

LAB NOTES:

A Full Blood Count will always be performed in conjunction with this procedure.
Clinical Hematologist will refer to VIDRL if required. Test code for 'send away' is SATHIC1
Malarial parasite identification by thick and thin film is compromised if the sample is received more than 3 hours after collection.
For the ICT test the sample may be stored at 4°C for up to 72hrs before testing.
