1) Trough levels - 1x 2.7mL EDTA
2) 4 point AUC (0-12hr) - 1x 2.7mL EDTA for each time point (pre dose, +1hr, +2hr, +4hr post dose)
3) 6 point AUC (0-12hr) - 1x 2.7mL EDTA for each time point (pre dose, +20min, +1hr, +2hr, +3hr, +4hr post dose)
Available testing for plasma total Mycophenolic Acid (MPA)
1. Pre-dose (or trough) MPA level
2. MPA area Under the Curve 0-12hr (AUC 0-12hr) by a limited-sampling approach (either 4 point or 6 point as above) and trapezoid estimation. Austin Pathology provide a form to assist with recording requirement for sample collections and doses. Please complete PDF (link below) and send with samples.
Send samples to Laboratory on ice pillow at each interval
Lab Notes: Centrifuge and store plasma at -20oC.
IMPORTANT NOTE: From 03/11/2016, all requests for total mycophenolate will be sent to the Austin Hospital. REQUESTS for clinical trial mycophenolate testing by Monash pathology will ONLY be processed if specimens are accompanied by a specific Laboratory Services approved trial form (Dr David Metz). For these specimens, perform data entry and send away to Monash Pathology, as indicated on the trial request form.
Send to testing laboratory on dry ice. Do not pack dry ice in a sealed container. Use appropriate PPE.
