Collection Instructions:Please send original sample in original tube.Collect 2 stool samples, more than 24 hours apart within 2 weeks
Laboratory Staff:Request on faecal sample which indicate any of the following should be sent to the WHO Polio Regional Reference Laboratory for polio surveillance:ADEM, AFP (Acute Flaccid Paralysis), GBS (Guillain Barre Syndrome), Transverse Myelitis, Peripheral neuropathy.Diagnostic tests for Polio virus should be sent to Molecular Microbiology for Enterovirus Nucleic Acid Detection PCR

No afterhours service; if urgent testing is required, the requesting clinician is to contact on-call Clinical Microbiologist for advice via switchboard

For same day results, specimens need to be received in the laboratory before 11:00am (RCH) and 8:30am (RWH)
