Transfusion history required. Test is not reliable if patient has been recently transfused.

LAB NOTES
Send blood specimen to Cell Therapy & Flow Cytometry Laboratory; Send blood film to Haematologist for review

EXTERNAL REFERRALS
In addition to the test sample and stained blood film, also send 6 normal (i.e. normal red cell indices)

If a blood film has not available one must be made from the test EDTA sample within 24 hours of collection date
