*Trough level only- Collect immediately before next dose is due ( approx 24 hrs after previous dose). For the majority of patients a peak level is not required (the dose is very high and the level will be several times greater than the MIC) Peak or other (ie.random levels may be required for investigation purposes or for patients with (potential) large changes in Volume of Distribution (obtain advice from Pharmacy, pharmacology or Prof Shann.
Random
Collect approx. 12 and 24 hours after dose. (Further samples as required).
Peak
level - Collect 1 hr after bolus dose or end of infusion.
Trough
level - Collect immediately before next dose.
